Winterleague 2010

The Southern California Winter League (SCWL) was formed in fall 2002 with four teams with a common vision: to provide recreational opportunities to encourage and develop youth cricketers as well as an arena for regular players to keep fit during the "off season". Today, the SCWL has blossomed into a full fledged cricket league with 18 teams (a limit set by the league organizers despite high interest) playing in two divisions.Despite the rapid growth, SCWL remains committed to its roots - to allow young players and teams to gain experience, enhance their skills in an environment that promotes sportsmanship and discipline..

In its short history, the SCWL has been a pioneer in the development of cricket in the Southern California area. In 2006/2007 the SCWL introduced day/night matches to its 25 over tournament. Over 15 day/night regular matches were played during league play - a first anywhere in the United States.

The SCWL follow up their banner year by introducing the 20/20 format to tournament play in the 2007-2008 season. USC won the 2006-07 version of the Winter League and had a perfect season and did not lose any game during the season. In the 2008-09 season, USC made its way to the semi-finals before losing out to the eventual champions, the Lankan Lions.
