S.C.C.A Summerleague 2010

The USC team plays under the umbrella of the Southern California Cricket Association (SCCA) which falls under the South West Region of the USA Cricket Association. There are more than 50 club teams which are affiliated under the SCCA and is attracting more American youth than ever. The SCCA has been the premier organization which has single handedly promoted and developed the game of cricket in the Southern California Region in the past decades.

Its popularity has only grown ever since, not only in the domestic circuit but also internationally. The SCCA not only attracts youngster's learning how to play the game at a competitive level but also international stars like Franklyn Rose, Gary Crocker etc. who play for various club teams in the SCCA. The SCCA holds various tournaments during the course of the year, the most notable being the LA open 20-20 cup which attracts major stars from the international scene to come and compete for the title. The 2007 LA open was a huge success and it had 12 teams from around the world participating. Teams from New South Wales, Trinidad & Tobago , India etc were a part of this. Amongst the notable cricketers who took part in this tournament were Virinder Sehwag, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Mohammad Azharuddin, Nikhil Chopra, Rohan Gavaskar, Richie Richardson, Stuart Willams etc. From the USC team, Tarun Tyagi and Rishab Nanda played for the California team in the competition.

The SCCA also holds its annual rivalry games against other regions in the USACA, most notably against the Northern California Cricket Association. In 2008 we had Tarun Sandhu from USC represent Southern California in this tournament, Tarun Sandhu was also chosen as the MVP of the tournament. The SCCA U-19 team had USC's Sharan Sharma and Nikhil Puri featured in the premier teams. In March 2009 the SCCA had its Cricketer's for peace and Solidarity Event, in which five players from USC were invited to participate for this charity event.

Apart from these tournaments, the SCCA holds its Summer League Championship Trophy, which is a 40 over format of the game. Each team plays 8 other teams in its division and the top 2 teams at the end of the season get promoted to the higher division. The summer season starts from April every year and concludes in October, following which the top teams compete for the Playoff Championships.
